In my site-specific installations, I mainly respond to the logic of a given space and work with the specific conditions within it. In this project, I wanted to see what happened if I started from an alternative logic, one related to our perception of space and time, both in general and specific.
The Bradwolff Projects building faces north, so direct sunlight never reaches inside. But what if the sun could find a way to enter this space?
So I’ve dismissed a couple of physical laws and disregarded some geographical facts. I have let the sun, instead of setting behind the neighbouring buildings at dusk, continue to shine on Bradwolff. Physical reality has been ignored, and what was sunset outside now transforms into sunrise inside, as shafts of sunlight gradually start to penetrate the project space, shining upwards through its windows.
Combining the grey-scale gradient prints with the strips of LED-light, in A Very Light Moment I am tracing this fictive movement of daylight through the interior and offering an alternative view and experience of the Bradwolff Projects space.
