The educational vision of Onder de Bogen primary school has served as the foundation for this project. The value of language, particularly English, the importance of asking questions, and the application of repetition as a learning method are intricately woven into a pavement design. The question “Why?” plays in this work a central role.

The design spans the entire width of the new schoolyard and is constructed with paving stones in the 3 colors already used in the surroundings. The composition of the carpet takes its cue from the baseline of the athletics track, featuring 3 sprint lanes and 6 merge lanes. The merge lanes are strategically placed in the middle of the composition, marking the entrance to the new school building.

The work aims to encourage the pupils’ physical activity in a playful and dynamic manner.
